Group Quiz Night Saturday 24th March 2012
Please speak to a group leader to book your table, teams of 8. Tickets are £3.00 per adult and £2.00 per child. Venue Lakeview Hall, Winter Gardens School, Hilton Road. 7.30pm for 8.00pm start. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.
Group Sponsered Cycle Sunday 25th March 2012
This event is open to the whole group, we even have a few parents cycling with us. Each section will be starting at different areas, and at a slightly different time, however they will all be able to take part in a base or two on route, get the chance to have a cheese burger and all be finishing at the Lobstersmack at roughly the same time. What a great way to raise some money - lets hope the sun shines for us.
Dog Walking Event Saturday 31st March 2012
Working alongside Basildon Council the Explorer Unit, will be providing help at this community event.
Group Conservation Day Saturday 31st March 2012
Once again a chance for the whole group to work together on their Group Enviroment Badge. It will be a longer day for the scouts, with cubs joining them and then the beavers. All will get a chance to do some digging and planting and litter picking, working in partnership with Winter Gardens School and looking at how to save our planet. Once again we will welcome the involvement of parents, please speak to your section leader to put your name down. Times will be given out at the section meetings.
Father & Cub Camp Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd April 2012
As Father and Cub Camp is approaching fast, I have listed a few things that you may need to be reminded about:
Arrival Time: 8.00pm - 8.30pm
You will not be allowed into the building until 8.00pm, as the leaders cannot gain access to the site until 7.00pm and they will not be able to get everything set up if people are hanging around the hall. You will find directions on how to get to the site on the link below.
Finish Time: 3.30pm
Please ensure that you all inform your wives that you will be having a full Sunday roast for lunch and we do not skimp on portions sizes, as I would not want you to get told off for not eating your dinners when you get home, it may also be worth mentioning that you will also be extremely tired, and possibly not wanting to communicate! Somewhat like the cubs when they get home from camp, this is normal!
Kit List:
The cubs will need to bring everything that is on the kit list, however it is only a guide for you as dads, if you decide not to follow it and get wet or cold you are old enough to cope with it. The hall we have hired has a No Shoes Indoors Policy, so the cubs will need slippers. Remeber to label everything that belongs to the cubs, you will not be able to go and sort out their stuff or help them pack it at the end of the weekend.
Midnight Feast:
The cubs midnight feast should only contain sweets, No Liquids, crisps or biscuits, however the dads midnight feast may liquids! and crisps and peanuts are allowed.
Final Payment:
Please ensure that all outstanding payments are made by 29th March, along with all permission and health forms, these can also be found at the bottom of the page.

This is open to all members of 5th Canvey and Nighthawk Explorer Unit and their families to come along and join us in celebrating the Queens Jubliee while taking part in some fun activities. More information to follow.
Jubliee Survial Night Sunday 3rd June 2012
For those scouts who are brave enough, after the family day, they will be able to stay and take part in a survial exercise, sleeping in bivvy bags, under the stars.
